About Shanghai Jio Tong University

Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU) is a prestigious university with more than one hundred year history. Since the 'reform and opening up policy' in China, SJTU has taken the lead in the management of reform to institutions of higher education, regaining its vigor and vitality with an unprecedented momentum of growth. A number of disciplines have advanced towards the top echelon internationally, with an ever-growing number of diciplines taking important strategic positions. SJTU includes five beautiful campuses: Xuhui, Minhang, Qibao, Fahua and Luwan, taking up an area of about 3,225,833 m2.

About the Xuhui Campus

Xuhui is the original main campus located in Xujiahui, a thriving downtown area full of historic colonial villas, popular bars and cafés in the French Concession district, and the massive Xujiahui shopping complex. Most buildings on campus were influenced by American architecture, while the main gate, which was built in 1935, is of traditional Chinese style reflecting the University's earlier status as the "Imperial Polytechnic College". The approaches to the main gate were via a series of marble bridges, similar to, although smaller than, those built in front of Tiananmen. Below are some pictures of the campus view.

Xuhui Campus 1

The Haoran Hi-tech Building is located in the SJTU Xuhui Campus, which provides a quiet academic atmosphere, and at the same time, enjoys convenient transportation and full range of business services of the Xujiahui commercial centre. The Haoran building provides conference services for both the University and the public. It has two large halls with capacity of 200 people, and several small multifunctional conference rooms in different sizes, all equipped with advanced high-tech audio video system.
